年賀状

A nengajo is a New Year's postcard.
The postcard usually says "Happy new year."
There is a lottery number on the postcard.
Recently many people send New Year's greetings by e-mail instead of by postcard.
Some people have friends, they only get in touch with once a year.

  • 前年までは "Have a happy new year." で、年が明けたら "Happy new year."
    • 前日までは "Have a happy birthday." で、当日になったら "Happy birthday."
